World stainless steel production and export. Who drives and who limps

World stainless steel production has remained stable throughout 2015, recording only a slight 0.3% decline. This is the last statement from the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), after the last data release concerning the stainless steel global market for each of the major countries operating in the steel sector.

According to surveys carried out, however, the actual towing would be attributable only to one of these: Asia – which is meant as the whole continent with the exception of China – as it stands out as sole manufacturer that was able to close its balance with a plus sign (+ 1.4%), followed by China (-0.6%) and Western Europe - Africa (-0.7%), with sharp separation from the Americas (-2.3%) and Eastern Europe (-6,3%).

Turning to the export figures, analyzed quarter by quarter, unexpectedly it's the old continent that emerges as the best one for sales, with a + 10.7% compared to the IV quarter of 2014 (although year to date decline), while the America's trends collapsed (- 16%) and the Chinese giant fell (-6.1%), probably disadvantaged by effect of the anti-dumping duties.
